STS-98 payload U.S. Lab Destiny is moved into Atlantis' payload bay

  • Description: KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- Technicians in the Payload Changeout Room oversee the transfer of the U.S. Lab Destiny to the orbiter’s payload bay. The PCR is the enclosed, environmentally controlled portion of the rotating service structure that supports payload delivery at the launch pad and vertical installation in the orbiter payload bay. Destiny, a key element in the construction of the International Space Station is designed for space science experiments and already has five system racks installed inside. STS-98 is the seventh construction flight to the ISS. Launch of STS-98 is scheduled for Jan. 19 at 2:11 a.m. EST. (Photo Release Date: 06-Jan-2001 )
