    • Description: In the still-dark early morning hours, Space Shuttle Discovery is illuminated by the xenon lights in the foreground, where only slivers of light can be seen from behind. The scheduled launch at 8:05 p.m. Oct. 9 is the second attempt after an earlier scrub. The Shuttle is making the fifth flight for construction of the International Space Station. The mission is also the 100th in the history of the Shuttle program.
