The Space Shuttle Atlantis sits on Pad 39A with the Rotating Service Structure retracted so that the payload canister with the SPACEHAB double module may be installed into the Payload Changeout Room. The canister is the white rectangular box on the left. A near-perfect reflection of the event is seen in the still water near Pad 39A. STS-86 mission is the seventh docking with the Russian Space Station Mir. Atlantis is scheduled to take Mission Specialist David A. Wolf to Mir where he will become a member of the Mir 24 crew. Wolf will replace Michael Foale, the U.S. astronaut who arrived at Mir aboard Atlantis on STS-84 in May. Mission Commander for STS-86 will be James D. Wetherbee, a captain in the U.S. Navy who has flown three times before.
