  • Description: In KSC's Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility (PHSF), workers are transferring the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft to a handling dolly from an alignment stand where alignment of spacecraft instrumentation was performed. The Mars Global Surveyor is being prepared for launch aboard a Delta II expendable launch vehicle during a launch window opening Nov. 6. The spacecraft represents the first venture in NASA's Mars Surveyor Program, a new series of missions to explore the Red Planet.
