  • Description: In the SAEF-2 spacecraft checkout facility at Kennedy Space Center, engineers and technicians from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory work to remove the cover from the shipping container containing the lander portion of the Mars Pathfinder spacecraft. The arrival of the spacecraft at KSC from Pasadena, CA occurred on Aug. 13, 1996. Launch of Mars Pathfinder aboard a McDonnell Douglas Delta II rocket will occur from Pad B at Complex 17 on Dec. 2.
