  • Description: Three of the seven crew members assigned to Mission STS-78, Payload Commander Susan J. Helms (left), Mission Commander Terence "Tom" Henricks, and Pilot Kevin R. Kregel stand in front of the orbiter that carried them through space for nearly 17 days and then returned them safely to Earth. The orbiter Columbia touched down on Runway 33 of KSC's Shuttle Landing Facility at 8:36 a.m. EDT, July 7, bringing to a close the longest Shuttle mission to date, with a mission elapse time of 16 days, 21 minutes and 47 seconds.
