    • Description: The STS-76 astronauts depart the Operations and Checkout Building for Launch Pad 39B. Leading the way are Mission Commander Kevin P. Chilton (front left) and Pilot Richard A. Searfoss (front right). Behind them are, from left, Mission Specialists Michael Richard "Rich" Clifford, Shannon W. Lucid, Ronald M. Sega (who is payload commander) and Linda M. Godwin. Awaiting the crew is the Space Shuttle Atlantis, undergoing final preparations for liftoff during an approximately seven-minute window currently set to open at around 3:13 a.m. EST, March 22. One of the primary objectives of Mission STS-76 is rendezvous and docking with the Russian Space Station Mir, and the exact liftoff time will be determined about 90 minutes beforehand based on Mir's most current location. Launch originally was scheduled for March 21, but weather concerns led to a scrub prior to loading of the external tank March 20.
