  • Description: STS-69 Mission Specialist Michael L. Gernhardt dons his launch/entry suit in the Operations and Checkout Building with assistance from a suit technician. STS-69 will be the first spaceflight for Gernhardt, who is scheduled to perform an extravehicular activity, or spacewalk, during the course of the mission. He and four fellow crew members will depart shortly for Launch Pad 39A, where the Space Shuttle Endeavour awaits liftoff during a two and a half hour window opening at 11:09 a.m. EDT.
