    • Description: Finishing touches on the largest American flag ever painted were completed today on the south side of the Vehicle Assembly Building at KSC's Launch Complex 39. The flag was painted as part of 3rd Century America, the U. S. Bicentennial Exposition on Science and Technology to be held here from May 30 through September 7. The flag is located on the western side of the VAB's south wall. Still to be painted is the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration's [ARBA] distinctive emblem. This will be placed on the eastern side of the south wall and should be completed by mid-May. The flag is 209 feet long and 100 feet in width. Each of its 13 red and white bars is nearly 8 and a half feet wide. The ARBA symbol will be 110 feet in diameter.
