In the White Room high above Launch Complex 39A, Apollo 17 Command Module Pilot Ronald E. Evans prepares to join crewmates Eugene A. Cernan and Harrison H. Schmitt in spacecraft, partially shown in rear. They were launched at 12:33 a.m. EST December 7, 1972, on NASA's sixth and final manned lunar landing mission in the Apollo program.
