    • Description: A total of 72 twenty kilowatt Xenon searchlights and two sixty kilowatt Xenon searchlight banks producing approximately 225 foot candles of light will be used for the night launching of Apollo 17 from Launch Complex 39A. The launch scheduled for 9:53 p.m. EST Dec 6, 1972 will be a spectacular sight and a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity for spectators and cameramen. The final Lunar landing mission in the Apollo Program is the first mission to require a nighttime launch of the giant Saturn V launch vehicle. Apollo 17 will be manned by Eugene A. Cernan, Commander; Ronald E. Evans, Command Module Pilot; and Harrison H. Schmitt, Lunar Module pilot.
