Visible in this photo are the three Launch umbilical Towers then being constructed from which to launch the giant Saturn V rocket which would hurl Americans to the Moon during Project Apollo. The LUTs were 446-feet tall. They were modified to support the Space Shuttle program following completion of Saturn/Apollo related programs in the mid 1970s. {highres} 2236 x 1808 {highsize} 722168 {hightype} JPEG {keywords} APOLLO PROGRAM,TOPPING OFF,CEREMONIES,EMPLOYEES,CONSTRUCTION WORKERS,LAUNCH UMBILICAL TOWER [LUT],HAMMERHEAD CRANE {lowres} 297 x 240 {lowsize} 98872 {lowtype} GIF {mediumres} 950 x 768 {mediumsize} 94894 {mediumtype} JPEG {number} KSC-87P-0220 {orientation} horizontal {othernumbers} KSC-87P-220, P-20231, ARCHIVE-04374 {place} LAUNCH COMPLEX 39 {slideres} 161 x 156 {slidesize} 36158 {slidetype} GIF {tinyres} 100 x 81 {tinysize} 11403 {tinytype} GIF {title} VEHICLE ASSEMBLY BUILDING [VAB] & TOPPING OFF CEREMONIES {type} Image {view} exterior {end}
